Two hundred years in the future, human beings have traveled to the stars, settled colonies on fifty worlds, and finally discovered intelligent life: the Drakk'Har—large, cold-blooded reptilian creatures who see human beings not as equals, but as food. War was unavoidable. Ill-prepared for the sudden and vicious conflict, humanity finds itself on the losing side.

After three years of retreating from the onslaught to gain time, humanity has dug in its heels, built up their forces, and begun to fight back. When intelligence identifies the distant Mindon star system as a source of Drakk’Har warships, a major engagement begins. Star Command Fleet Nine strikes the first blow in a new offensive campaign.

During combat operations on Mindon-2, the plan goes horribly wrong. Casualties mount on both sides. The men and women on the raid find themselves in a merciless crucible that threatens to change them forever. The Drakk'Har know victory can only come by overwhelming the humans with savage brutality.

The Legionnaire: Origins

At a remote French Foreign Legion fort in the middle of the Algerian desert, Sergent Étienne Martin drinks himself numb every night. A paratrooper, talented soldier, and respected Non-Commissioned Officer, the alcohol is his way of escaping the oppressive atmosphere of the camp. Under the iron hand of Colonel Rochon, no breach of the rules is tolerated and fear rules the base.

Anger, frustration, and desperation are the norm as Martin endures the last three years of his contract. Morale plummets, and desertions are frequent. Life inside the fort walls becomes an endless grind.

Martin discovers millions of Euros have been taken from the fort accounts for personal gain. His duty demands he report this to his superiors. Discovering how widespread the conspiracy is, Martin must decide whether to stand against hopeless odds, or run to fight another day.

Stephen Anderson is living a lie. A former Sergent in the French Foreign Legion, he deserted after witnessing the murder of a fellow legionnaire at the hands of senior officers. After faking his death in the Algerian desert, Anderson believes he is safe but must maintain a low profile to avoid detection. He began a new life as an investigator for a large US insurance company, letting others take credit for the items he retrieves.
 
Anderson is assigned as lead investigator by his insurance company to locate Tutankhamun’s burial mask. The theft results in intense international press coverage, threatening to expose his hidden past. An attempt was made on his life immediately before the theft. Were the thieves trying to improve their odds of success, or is someone from his earlier life seeking revenge?
